Institution Description

Carondelet Catholic School is a large, vibrant, healthy preschool through eighth grade school of about 400 students. Carondelet Catholic carries on a long-standing tradition of high quality Catholic education in southwest Minneapolis that began with our two parish schools, Christ the King and St. Thomas the Apostle. The schools consolidated to form Carondelet in 1992, with our pre-k through second grade students served at St. Thomas, and third through eighth at Christ the King.

Carondelet is small enough to feel like a family and large enough to offer a well rounded and rigorous curriculum that includes Spanish, art, music, band, makerspace, physical education, and two full time learning specialists for students who need support or more challenge. Religion is part of the core curriculum and school liturgies are celebrated at both campuses. The faculty is experienced, dedicated and the majority of the teachers have earned advanced degrees. The parent community is engaged in the success of the school, the board serves as an excellent resource to the administrative team, and the parishioners of our two sponsoring parishes support the mission of the school. Fr. Michael Reding of St. Thomas the Apostle serves as Carondelet’s Canonical Administrator. We invite you to look at our webpage www.carondeletcatholicschool.com for additional information.

Community Description

Our two campuses are located about one mile apart in the Linden Hills and Fulton neighborhoods just west of Lake Harriet in southwest Minneapolis. Most of our students come from the seven neighborhoods surrounding Carondelet. Several parks, Lake Harriet, and Minnehaha Creek are within walking distance. The area has been economically stable for the past 25 years.
