Position Summary
The Controller manages accounting operations for the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and the Pension Plan for Priests, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and responsible stewardship of Church resources in support of the Diocese’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee daily accounting activities for the Diocese and Pension Plan
• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
• Review and assign appropriate account coding
• Maintain subsidiary ledgers and documentation
• Monitor cash flow and banking activities
• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing review
• Coordinate external audits
• Process payroll and required reports
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly
• Support Pastoral Center operations as needed
Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Preferred: CPA certification and/or MBA
